Guess What?
I met Ben Foss!! He is such a nice man.
I talked to him alot and gave him my business cards
and told him I would like to be a Speaker about Dyslexia
to share my stories with other little kids and parents and teachers. I want to help make other kids life easier. I know how hard it is when your teacher dosn’t understand you. School can be a scary place for dyslexic kids.
I am scared to go to school tomorrow, because I don’t want to be tested. I am scared because I don’t know what to expect in my class everyday. Last week was a spelling bee, now I don’t know what could be next.
Dyslexic kids need to feel safe, really all kids need to feel safe.
I told Ben about my fears and showed him all my bad school work that is all marked up. He flet bad for me.
He told me to self advocate which means speak up for myself. I told him that I did, but it didn’t work with my teacher. So he told me to show her what ever it is that is not something for me and say, ” This does NOT work for ME!”
He told me to keep saying it to all my teachers and never give up. He knows how I feel.
Most peope don’t know anything about dyslexia.
It is hard for people to understand. We don’t look like we have something. We just need people to listen to us and understand.
There are things tha even My mom is still learning everyday.
Like why I ask so many questions. It because that is the best way I learn.
My Mom also never knew that I didnt know what AM & PM was. When she found out she drew me a picture & taped it to my alarm clock..

It sounds like it was a good learning experience for you and your family.
we all do need to learn as much as we can about this Dyslexia, including me.
But I cheat, because your mom reads the books and gives me all the important information out of them. lol
I have some good audio books for you, you can in your car.
I am very glad that you found someone who has gone through what you are experiencing now and understands exactly how you feel. Focusing on your strenghts and speaking up for yourself sounds like wonderful advice.
It is, now I have to get people to listen to me.
